In 2022, Co-Founder of Southampton Independents and former Southampton Independents councillor Andrew Pope did a sponsored marathon walk from Fratton Park, Portsmouth, to St Mary's Stadium, Southampton via Eastleigh FC in Stoneham Lane, Eastleigh.

It was 26.2 miles.

Andrew is repeating his fundraising for Prostate Cancer UK during March 2026, by meeting the challenge they have set him to walk 341,000 steps.

He is asking for you to sponsor him and donate.

"The Marathon March nearly ruined me. So it took a lot for me to take up another challenge with Prostate Cancer UK. I'm on track though.

I am doing it to raise money for the charity to campaign to reduce men who are getting ill or dying from prostate cancer.

They support the rollout of readily-available testing for men. I am going to try to get a test via my GP - some men have been refused the test.

Please sponsor me during March. Thanks to those who have already sponsored me.

You can do it by going to the link here and donating.

Or get in touch via Southampton Independents and we can work out a way for you to donate to Prostate Cancer UK. Thank you!"
